The RHEOTEK Automatic Viscometer (AV-2) provides a reliable and precise method for measuring lubricants.
The AV-2 is configured with two capillary tubes, allowing simultaneous measurements at 40 and 100oC. For maximum flexibility two sample needles are lowered into the sample vial. One portion of the sample is delivered to the 40oC viscometer and the other to the 100oC viscometer. If required, only one viscometer can be filled i.e. kinematic viscosity is only required at one temperature for a particular sample.
When both viscometers are filled, kinematic viscosity and Viscosity Index will be reported.
The AV-2 capillary tubes are calibrated using ASTM reference oils over their measuring range. Typically for lubricants, the calibration range will be 0.9 to 1,000 mm2/s, cSt at 40oC and correspondingly 0.9 to 100 mm2/s at 100oC.
On completion of the measurement, the sample is pushed back through the system and is removed under vacuum to a waste container. Solvents are used to clean the system followed by air drying.
The AV-2 is a compact modern Viscosity Analyzer, ideal for running batches of new and used lubricant samples, with little user intervention.
The AV-2 meets the precision requirements of ASTM D445 and is fully compliant with IP543.
Several AV-2 models are available depending upon the nature of the application.
